Somatic Yoga
The Church says: The body is a sin. Science says: The body is a machine. Advertising says: The body is a business. The body says: I am a fiesta!
Eduardo Galeano
Somatic Yoga at Illumine Within is a movement practice rooted in embodied listening. Rather than emphasizing form or performance, classes prioritize awareness, choice, and presence.
This practice honors the body’s capacity to hold complexity — the tangible and the mysterious — and trusts that healing unfolds through attentive, compassionate awareness.
What This Is
Somatic yoga is a practice of listening — to sensation, breath, and the quiet intelligence of the body. It invites a return to yourself, not as something to fix or transcend, but as a living, responsive presence shaped by culture, relationship, belief, and lived experience.
Yoga offers a way back into embodiment — reconnecting with the body as a living language that’s always communicating. Through movement, breath, and attention, we begin to feel how much the body can hold: mystery and matter, grief and aliveness.
The body carries its own intelligence. It knows how to heal, adapt, soften, and gather strength. Practicing listening inward reconnects us with a capacity for renewal that has been there all along — supporting resilience, rest, and a gentle remembering of inner wisdom.

Is This a Good Fit?
