Centering Circles FAQ
CENTERING CIRCLES FAQ
Centering Circles are held with a relational pace, clear structure, and deep care. These are small, intimate circles of 6-8 people.
Below are answers to common questions — and if you’re unsure whether a circle is right for you, you’re welcome to reach out anytime.
Do I need meditation experience?
No. You don’t need any experience — you’ll be guided step-by-step. What matters most is a willingness to approach yourself with kindness and stay curious about what arises.
Do I have to share in the circle?
No. Sharing is always invitational. You are welcome to participate through silence and listening, and many people begin by witnessing until they feel trust in the rhythm of the group.
What is “circle listening”?
Circle listening is a practice of witness. We listen without fixing, advising, or trying to change one another. We practice reverence for what is shared, trusting that being deeply heard is part of how we remember ourselves.
Is this therapy?
Centering Circles are not therapy, and they are not a substitute for clinical mental health care. They are a contemplative and somatic practice space — a steady rhythm of nervous system care, meditation, and relational listening held in community.
What if I feel anxious, overwhelmed, or emotionally tender?
You are welcome here. Many people join because they feel overwhelmed — by life, grief, transition, or the state of the world. The pull to withdraw, numb, or shut down is real. These circles are held with pacing, structure, and consent, and you’re invited to participate at your own level.
What if I’ve had harm in spiritual spaces?
You’re not alone. These circles are held in the wisdom of the circle — with care, consent, and relational pacing. You will never be pressured to share, confess, agree, or perform. You are welcome to go slowly.
Do I need to be spiritual to join?
No. Centering Circles are for people who want to practice presence, connection, and inner listening. You are welcome whether your relationship to spirituality feels clear, uncertain, evolving, or tender.
Will there be religious language?
The circles are rooted in contemplative practice and held with an inclusive posture of sacred listening. Some language may include sacred, Presence, Divine, or God — and you are always welcome to translate those words into what feels true for you.
What if I don’t resonate with God-language?
That’s okay. You are welcome to translate the language into what feels true for you — Presence, Mystery, Love, the Sacred, the Earth, the Unseen. This space does not require a particular belief system.
What is the time commitment?
Centering Circles are offered in cycles. Most cycles meet weekly (or bi-weekly, depending on the offering). Participants register for the full cycle so the group can build trust, consistency, and depth over time.
What if I miss a session?
Life happens — you are welcome to miss a session. The container is designed to be a steady rhythm you can return to, not a perfection project.
How do I know which circle is right for me?
If you’re new, the main Centering Circle offering is a beautiful place to begin. If you’ve participated before and want deeper contemplative formation, the Morning Deepening Cycle may be the best fit. If you’re drawn toward feminine archetypes, intuition, and emergence, Rewilding the Feminine may be the best fit. If you’re unsure, email me — I’m happy to help you choose.
How do I register?
Registration links are listed on the Centering Circles page. If a circle is full, you can join the waitlist — spots sometimes open.
